Anatomy of a Petition That Cleared Without an RFE
A redacted teardown of an approved EB-1A petition — what they led with, and what they omitted.
The approved petition we examine here cleared in under ninety days with no RFE. It claimed four criteria — original contribution, scholarly authorship, judging, and leading or critical role — and explicitly declined to claim two others for which marginal evidence existed.
The discipline of omission is the lesson. Weak evidence under a fifth criterion dilutes the adjudicator's perception of the four strong ones. The petition's authors understood that an unforced posture of strength reads better than an exhaustive but uneven catalog.
The narrative cover letter front-loaded the original contribution argument and used the remaining criteria as corroboration of the same underlying claim: that the petitioner had produced work of major significance that the field had independently recognized. Each exhibit was cross-referenced to that thesis.
